That’s what we call a dog that rushes out the door as soon as you open it. This can be dangerous for your pet and stressful for you. Your pet could be hit by a car, attacked by another dog or wild animal, picked up by animal control or just stolen. Being the leader of your pack, or the alpha, you should be the first one out the door. One of our trainers, Larry Babb, taught us the best trick. Put your dog on the leash and hook the end over the door knob inside. When the dog rushes out, close the door and wait. “Fido” will soon get bored standing out there alone. Open the door and act surprised to see your pet. Do this as many times as it takes to get the message across.
Making sure your dog has adequate exercise and play time will help curtail this activity, but you will have to be proactive to change this behavior permanently. Here is an article with more tips and tricks.
